Author Of Bonded Thru Injustice On A Collision Course With History
Los Angeles, CA - December 28, 1998 - There's only a few weeks left before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) plans to have a "final look" into all the issues raised regarding the CIA Inspector General's report on Contra drug trafficking.
After those hearings the matter will be officially closed. Forever.
But will there be a public firestorm in advance, forcing Congress to hear from people like Gary Webb - the former San Jose Mercury News reporter who wrote the Dark Alliance series over two years ago. Not to mention other notables such as Oliver North, John Poindexter, Celerino Castillo, Danillo Blandon, and dozens of other witnesses.
Here's the issue: The news-event-of-the-decade parade is about to come down the street. The question is: Will you be riding in that parade or standing at the curb and watching it go by?
AND THE ANSWER IS:
Bonded Thru Injustice by John Waters.
Reviewers who've read Bonded Thru Injustice agree that if Gary Webb had access to what John Waters has put in print, he really would've won the Pulitzer Prize.
Based on a true story, but told as a novel to protect the author's sources, Bonded Thru Injustice is a very human look at the CIA/DEA’s extralegal affairs in the drug trade.
Here the story is seen through the eyes of two men, one on each side of the law, who become unlikely but tight friends. The story is dramatic and active and carries its audience along as one man tries to prevent the U.S. government from railroading the other into paying a price far in excess of the crime he committed.
A compelling look into a most improbable bond. The story of a hardened private investigator and his client who was falsely accused of a dozen charges ... including murder.
Bonded Thru Injustice delves into the shady and downright dirty dealings of our justice system in what turned out to be California’s first federal death penalty case. It unveils the names, the dates, the places, the money behind the headlines … the deals and the double crosses, the deaths and denials.
Whenever other sources have struggled to bring their information to light, they’ve been smeared and discredited by federal agencies and even the news media. Not wishing to draw the same fate to himself, this PI maintained his silence until now. They got away with importing cocaine into the U.S. and they got away with selling that coke. But when they tried to get away with murder, that’s when he put his foot down.
John Waters tells this story through the eyes of his friend, J. Charles Evans, a licensed private investigator in Los Angeles, who’s handled
successful investigations for such notable attorneys as Johnnie Cochran, Leslie Abrahamson and Michael Zimbert.
Never once in his career did Evans ever allow himself to become attached to any of his clients. But Juan Rubio was uniquely different. And that
troubled the hell out of Charles. Rubio may have been guilty of dealing drugs for most of his life, but the other charges were clearly bogus,
especially the murder.
After a few weeks into the investigation, Charles discovered his client was either one of the worlds greatest liars or the link to a revelation: a symbiotic arrangement between drug traffickers and U.S. law
enforcement.
Truckloads of coke, U.S. marshal badges, DEA jackets, and Mexico’s minister of defense a drug trafficker. It was hard for Waters and Evans
to comprehend. No matter, Juan had their attention.
During the course of the investigation, hundreds of interviews were conducted, each one proving that Juan had told the truth from day one. The dialog included throughout this book is based on those interviews.
