do I get prodigy to recognize my browser as Netscape 6. When I log on to
prodigy, I have a blank screen until I click on the Netscape icon on my
desktop. How do I make my prodigy home page automatically open in Netscape
6.
All you need to do is make sure Netscape is windows default browser "before" installing PIv5.5 Client Kit. PIv5 Client Kit will launch NS or IE which ever is currently windows default browser.
System has been pre-configured with an Internet Browser:
If a member has Netscape® Navigator 3.x or 4.x configured as their default browser, they will be allowed to choose that browser for use with Prodigy Internet. In this case, only the Prodigy Internet client software will be installed on the user's machine, and the chosen browser will be configured for use with PI.
(NOTE : Netscape must be configured
for at least one user (as
well as being the default browser) in
order for our install to detect it and present it as an option.

How
to Send Mail with the Prodigy login or authentication SMTP server:
When you need to use a login or authenticating server to SEND email,
please change your SMTP server to:
- smtpauth.prodigy.net orsmtpauth.flash.net
NOTE: The server is now available to all SBC customers, reguardless of their legacy domain...Here are directions for setting up.
For Outlook Express :
1. Click TOOLS
2. Click ACCOUNTS
3. Click the MAIL tab
4. Select your Prodigy mail
account
5. Click the SERVERs tab
- On this panel, change
your outgoing (SMTP) server to smtpauth.flash.net
- There is a box at the
bottom of the panel that says 'my server requires authentication'.
Check this box, and then
- click SETTINGS to set
your Prodigy user ID and password.
Be
sure to enter your full user ID, including appending the domain
name, as in
your-userid@flash.net
your-userid@prodigy.net
your-userid@sbcglobal.net
etc...
For Netscape4.xx: screenshot
Communicator users enter
your username in the email settings.
You will be prompted for
the password when you send.
The setting is in EDIT |
PREFERENCES | MAIL SERVERS
enter your FULL user ID
in the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER USER NAME field
