It is short, top to bottom, therefor shows the most recent peak and
how things are currently going without occupying much real-estate.
Options available are

System Monitor is a Windows extension utility. It can be accessed by
third
party programs. Depending on what is installed on the computer, items
in
the list may vary somewhat. It therefore has a wide range of
usefulness.
The following image depicts "Internet Speed" comparisons as reported
from
some different sources and of different types "Connect Speed" and
"Transfer
rate".
Throughput is transfer rate, usually measured in
kbps (kilobytes per second). In real world terms, timing the
download
of a reasonably large file and calculating the kbps is a typical
judgment
of quality of that connection to the download site via the route from
your
computer to the computer the file is downloaded from. All of the
factors
in the set of conditions that exist between your computer and the
computer
the file is downloaded from are variables to your throughput.
