Prof. Orgasmo, aka roger evers, has been a mask maker, painter, sculptor, writer, and dreamer for 51 years (since birth!). I honed my artistic skills early in life, painting abstracts in drool on the mattress in my crib. These admitedly "transparent" early attempts at artistic expresion were, nevertheless, imbued with a certain brash motif in both body and form.
The early encounters with baby food were thrilling to me, as the muse began to appear in the spoonfuls of creamed spinach, squash, peaches, etc., which brought the magic of color to my fingertips. The world (of the kitchen) was my palette, and I was undaunted and unswayed by the negative reviews of my audience. As the canvas of time proceeded to fill, I turned to sculpting, employing mixed mediums, including mud, sand, and rock.
Being a woefully poor student in the public school system, I proceeded to pursue my creative urges in elaborate doodles on the pages of my failed homework assignments, tests and peachies. With the dawning of puberty, a keen appreciation of the naked form took hold and the creative urge blossomed.
The years passed, the doodles became more and more abstract . I entered college, took every philosophy course available, discovered the doors of perception, entered them and dropped out of college, carrying with me a sketch pad and poetry journal. I trekked into the mountains of the mind, traversing the chasms and chaos of consciousness with artistic flair and failure, ever mindful of the incredible scope and breadth of the human psyche.
Life became the canvas, and I painted it with abandon and gusto; life was also the medium, the palette rich with color and texture. The complexities of life seem to fit this simple equation: when
the mind expands, so too do the horizons.
Time marches on, and the creative spirit continues to manifest in paintings, literary musings, mask making, assemblage motifs and sculpture. Masks create a bridge between the conscious and subconscious self. I interpret traditional mythologies and create new ones in masks of satire and whimsy, and masks of deeper journies through the psyche, spirit and dream realms. Canvas paintings are abstract expressionistic motifs, with a keen eye to the evolutionary aspects of art. Oils and acrylic are the mediums.
Currently working on a series of "mind murals", free to all the psychics in the audience.
Always interested in hearing from other mask makers, painters, writers, etc. etc... Complete resume available upon request. May the muse be with you always!
