(2) 9/20/97 I'm interested in hearing from anyone with any information on any and all COLLINS from the Butts County, GA area.....
Earliest known COLLINS ancestor from that area is Samuel COLLINS b. abt. 1784-1788 in either Delaware (per 1860 census) or "D.C" (Washington?) per the 1850 census. He died in Butts Co. GA in 1878.
Samuel married Jane UNKNOWN probably abt. 1807. Their oldest child (son Irbin) b. abt. 1809 in GA is my gggrandfather. I first find record of the family in an 1825 Henry Co. deed, and in the Butts Co. 1830 census. Where were they before 1825?? Where in GA was Irbin born?? Were my COLLINS' from Delaware or Washington, D.C. or elsewhere?? And finally, is my Samuel COLLINS the same one who participated in the 1821 GA Land Lottery as a resident of Clark County, GA?? Does anyone have info. on that Clark County,GA Samuel COLLINS?? Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Christy Jordan-Frank E-mail

(4) 9/20/97 Hi all! I've just begun researching my Collins family line. I am looking for information re: my 2ggrandmother, Nancy COLLINS, b. Dec. 16, 1859, Fulton Co. AR, m. William James TAYLOR, b. Jan. 1, 1852 in Melbourne, Izard Co. AR. They were married approx. 1880. They had 9 children. According to LDS Ancestral File, Nancy's parents were Richard Collins b. ~1833, and Ellen Nickles b. ~1837. Having found Nancy COLLINS TAYLOR on the 1910 Izard County AR census, her father was listed as being born in England.
I have also heard he was from TN. I have no idea where her mother, Ellen Nickles, is from. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated. I'd be happy to share what information I have!
Thanks in advance. Becky Email

(10) 9/24/97 Hi Y'all ! Thank you for this Collins BB !! I am searching for any information on a group of Collins men who entered land in Ashe Co NC in 1800, David, Elisha, Griffin, Lewis, Ambrose, Volentine, Thomas, and Aaron. I am sure these men are brothers OR brothers and their sons. Griffin is my 4th g Grandad. He is found first on the 1795 Wilkes Co, NC tax lists. He married Mossie (?) in ca 1794. I have a list of this couples known children : William b 1795, Griffin Jr b 1796, Nancy b 1798, Allen b 1803, Alexander b 1816, Betsy b 1817. There is an improbable large gap in the births of Allen & Alexander, so there are very likely more children. Most researchers believe Lewis b 1754 to be the father of Griffin Sr. Dowell and Edmond are named "heirs at Law" in Lewis pension application for Rev War service..but I am not convinced he is Griffin's father. Griffin & Mossie were in Grainger Co TN by 1804. Many of their descendants went on to Wise/Scott/Lee/Russell Co's VA and on to Floyd & Johnson Co KY. I have much info to share !
