"Charles Bradley Brass was born January 28, 1946 in Monroe
Louisiana. He attended Carver Elementary School and Carroll High School.
Then he furthered his education at North East State University in Monroe,
Louisiana and Grambling State University.
He was baptized at Avenue Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana
and attended the Free Gift Baptist Church.
Charles moved to Rochester, New York in 1967, where he married
the former Dorothy Purdue. He attended St. Simon's Episcopal Cyrene Church.
He was well known in Rochester, New York for his Civil
Rights and Community Activist Work; Co-Founder of Rochester Chapter of
the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.) Developer of Low
Moderate Income Housing, known today as the Holland Street Townhouses and
the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Gardens, and nationally known for
his Housing Consulting and C.O.R.E. activities. He was also an employee
at Eastman Kodak for many years.

Sister Johnson's obituary read as follows: We often
wonder when our name shall be called. Only true angels know when it's time
to stand before God. Sister Willie Mae Johnson was such an angel, who spread
goodness to all who knew her.
Sister Johnson, the eldest of six sisters, was born
in Homer, Louisiana on June 17, 1934. She later moved to Monroe and joined
Macedonia Baptist Church, where she gave her life to Christ.
While attending Macedonia, she introduced the church to her four children:
John Johnson (Monroe, La.) Jerry Johnson Johnson (Arlington, Tx), Arthurine
Johnson (New Orleans, LA) and Dorothy Johnson (Shreveport, Louisiana).
Sister Johnson rendered faithful service to Macedonia until
she was called upon by her Savior on March 7, 1998 after a long and courageous
battle.
Sister Johnson also leaves to mourn five granchildren, her mother Maggie
Hewitt, a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Ms. Price peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 12,
1998 at the Summit Hospital of Northeast Louisiana in West Monroe after
a long illness.

Sister Williams obituary reads as follows: Esther D. Williams
was one of seven children born to the union of George and Gordie Dunn,
February 2, 1926 in Beaumont, Texas.
She professed a hope in Christ at a early age and was
baptized at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
Upon moving to Alexandria, with her husband McKinley Williams, Sr.,
she united with Mount Triumph Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
Robert R. Perry. She attended church regularly until her health started
failing her. She was know as the "Hot Tamale Lady" on Main Street.
She leaves to cherish her memories; three sons,
Robert E. Ford, Sr., of Alexandria, McKinley Williams, Jr., of Birmingham,
Alabana; Lawrence Williams of Aleandria, Roy Schilling of Monroe, a nephew
she reared upon the death of her sister.
Four daughters, Brenda Nicols of Warner Robbins, Georgia; Beverly Jackson
of Mansura, Louisiana; Margaret Williams of Alexandria, Louisiana, Mary
Powell of Winnsboro, Louisiana; daughter-in-laws, Shirley Ford of Alexandria,
Louisiana and Sally Williams of Birmingham, Georgia.
Sons-in-law. Bruce Jackson of Mansura and Joe Powell of Winnsboro,
Louisiana; and Odis Nichols of Warner Robbins, Georgia.
Three brothers, George Dunn, Maxwell and Lesell
Dunn all of Monroe, Louisiana; and three sister-in-laws; Olibet, Serena
and Katie Lee all of Monroe, Louisiana.
Nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, one great great
grandchild; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of very good
friends.
"Ma Dear" as called by the family will be missed in body. But she leaves
a legend of love and a heart of gold.
