Woonsocket is noted for its many fine, reasonably priced restaurants. Many feature "Chicken Family Style," a dinner featuring tender-slow cooked chicken, pasta and potatoes, a dish developed here in the Blackstone Valley and enjoyed since 1935.

Other restaurants specialize in beef and New England seafood favorites, including lobster and fish & chips. In fact, Ye Olde English Fish & Chips in Market Square enjoys an international reputation for its specialty.

Additional cuisines available nearby include Thai, Chinese, Italian and Spanish selections.

Woonsocket is also home to Chan's Oriental Fine Dining Restaurant, voted Rhode Island's finest Chinese restaurant. It takes some by surprise, but Chan's is known world-wide as a venue for some of the best jazz talent.

Artists such as Leon Redbone, Chris Connor, Dave McKenna, Greg Abate, Rebecca Paris and Daryl Sherman regularly appear at Chan's.
