The birth date comes from the Barbour Collection. The Collection quotes Ashford Vital Records: Volume 3, page 110.

William enlisted as a drummer boy at 16 in the 14th Albany Company, New York Regiment. In 1781 William became a private in Captain James Dana's Company, Samuel Wylly's Regiment, Connecticut Line.

William was placed on the Pension Roll of Ontario County, New York on the 4th day of March 1831. He was to receive 40 dollers a year.

Mr Cheney had three wives. It is unknown which wife is the mother of the children. ( From "Revolutionary Soldiers Buried in Ohio", page 75)
