From the "BAKERSFIELD CITY DIRECTORY" 1920 - 1925 Editions:

1920: A resident at 2030 O Street, the same address as his father.

1921: No listing.

1925: Listed under Albert W. Sold oil at 2118 Chester and resided at Rte2, Box 171, the same address as his mother and father.

"Albert William Cheney was my stepfather. He married my mother Loleta Grande Cheney in Santa Barbara during the late 40's. Ora Cheney Shefffield, Al Cheney's mother lived with us. Thad Cheney, Al Cheney's father stayed with us several times. Your information states that Thad Cheney died in Santa Barbara, Ca. As I remember he died on the ranch where he worked, and retired in Taft, Cal. He is
buried in Bakersfield. I was in high-school at the time so my memory may not be all that accurate.

Thad Cheney told me that he had been Marshall of Taft and Oil Town. This
would have been in the late 20's and 30's. He then went to work as a Foreman
on a ranch in Taft Ca. until his death.

Ora Sheffield divorced Thad Cheney and married Bill Sheffield, They had a
ranch in Bakersfield. She died in Bakersfield and is buried there.

Albert Cheney was married several times. One to local girl in Bakersfield.
Sorry I do not know her name. There were no children. His second wife Rosie,
from Oregon. No children. His third wife (my mother) Loleta Caughey Grande
Cheney. They were marred by J. P. in Santa Barbara and later married in the
Catholic Church in Lincoln City, Oregon. Al is buried in Lincoln City,
Oregon. Al Cheney was in the US Navy. I don't know how long he served. He
grew up in Bakersfield, Kern County Ca. He went to Bakersfield high. That's
about all the information I have at the moment."
