"The Vevay Reveille", Thursday, 5 April 1877:

DIED- At Bennington, Saturday evening, March 31st, John Cole; supposed to have been near 97 years of age. Rev. R. L. Kinnear preached the funeral Sunday afternoon to a large number of the relatives and friends of the deceased.
