John Wilson Scott:
Notes:
The Scott family moved to Sangamon County, Illinois in 1824. They moved to McLean County in 1832 and in 1840 they settled in DeWitt County.
John was a private in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in May of 1780 with the Virginia Continental troops. John served one year in Captain James Dysart's Company, Col William Gamble's Regiment. John was in the Battle of King's Mountain and Wetzwll's Mill.
On the June 1, 1840 Illinois Pension Census for DeWitt County, John is listed at age 77 residing with John Maxwell. (From "Soldiers of the American Revolution Buried in Illinois" by the Illinois State Genealogical Society, 1976)
