Additional Information
David Jonathan "Dave" Cheney:
Notes:
David did not marry until 1870 when he was thirty-eight years old. He, like his brother Return, had to have remembered a Cheney's Grove young woman because he waited until she was a widow before he married.
Listed in the 1880 census for Sonoma County.
In the 1890 "Great Register of Sonoma County", David is listed as a farmer in the Analy Township.
Helen Rebecca Connell:
Notes:
Helen Rebecca Connell married Sanderson Linton ten years after David Cheney left Illinois. She was only ten when David moved to California. Sanderson died in late 1869 in Illinois. By May 1870, Helen married David. Over the next sixteen years they had six children together. Helen was said to be a great beauty as were her children.
In March of 1910, Helen made the trip to Coalinga, California to attend the 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration of R.J. and Martha Cheney. She was listed as living in Sebastapol, California. (From the Daily Coalinga Times, March 9, 1910)
