Additional Information

Mary Cheney:

Notes:
Mary moved to Coalinga in 1906. Mary became a nurse and later a deputy county assessor. She lived on one side of her parents on East Durian while her brother J.G. and his family lived on the other side.

Mary C. Janes was listed on the 1930 Federal Census on line 18, sheet 5A, Enumeration District 10-78, Coalinga City, Fresno County, California. She owned her home at 276 D Street which she valued at $1,500. She was 56, retired, and listed herself as a widow! Mary had rented a room in her house to an Australian named W.B. Williams who was an Optometrist. She was still living next door to her brother, J.G., and did not own a radio.

Mary Cheney Janes became one of Coalinga's first business women, and worked for many years on the Chamber of Commerce Committee for the West Side Freeway.
