Alvin came to California in 1875.
The 1920 Federal Census for California, Fresno County, Clovis City listed Alvin on sheet 3a, line 19. Alvin was living with his 2 daughters Doris, 20, and Alta 19. He owned his home, although it was mortgaged. He listed his occupation as a County laborer.
The 1930 Federal Census for California, Fresno County, 2nd Township listed Alvin on sheet 12B, line 64. He owned his home which was worth $1,500. He was 67 and did not own a radio. Alvin was a Constable for the 2nd Township. The Census shows Alvin living with a wife--Nora (57) and stepson Charles (20). Charles was a clerk in a grocery store.
Alvin was a grain rancher in Fresno and Madera Counties. Alvin was for several years in charge of road work for the Clovis District. Alvin was the constable of Clovis for four years. He then spent two years as Fresno's City Marshall.
Alvin was a Democrat.
