It is amazing how South Florida TV Stations cover recent events! It is an "all or nothing" faulty thought pattern! In Spanish there is saying: If you do not want soup, I'll give you 3 bowls!.That's their approach to any event they consider to be important (to whom?, a lazy news director? a greedy sales VP?).We have been exposed to hundreds of hours of visual and audio material about the so called "Crisis in the White House" to such a degree of saturation, that the polls are showing up a 38% of approval. Almost 2 of 3 got tired of such a monotonous never ending repetition of the same information.
Now is Hurricane Georges. Don't you ever learn that you are annoying a lot of people? Or your powerful advertisers have told you: "Scare the hell out of South Florida Morons so they will empty our shelves."? Anyway I am so fed off with my local news channels that I personally prefer to watch Reruns and CNN news in cable!Cultural diversity and 50 another channels are my options. That's the advantage of living in a democratic society!!

All this love affair cult members have with death comes from a lousy religious idea: redemption through Death. What's wrong with life on planet Earth? If you think it is imperfect and with lot of flaws, try to better it instead of killing Yourself! I DO NOT BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER DEATH OR REINCARNATION. It is nothing but a MYTH. The objective reality is NO ONE comes back from Paradise or Hell or Whatever you can name it to tell stories. Once your body ceases to function there are no more thinking, smelling, seeing, hearing, feeling, etc.Death is Nothingness. Nihil. Nada. The END.
What is difficult to swallow is how apparently(?) smart people as this computer freaks could believe in such silly ideas: An UFO trailing a Comet to get them to a new world. I have my doubts about the mental stability of these people. From my College lectures I recall KAPLAN & SADOCK Comprehensive Textbook on Psychiatry: 5% of schizophrenics believe they are either God or has been sent by a deity to save Humanity. The problem is that normal (mentally healthy) people usually differentiate between madness and logic thoughts. So a musician showed up as an Alien DO with his companion TI, and there are dozens of people willing to believe them? I bet there are right now hundreds of American who can not discriminate between Hollywood fantasies and Reality.
At the core of the problem we will find out that according to the National Educators Association only 10% of High School students passed an elemental, basic course on Physics. So we are becoming a Science-Ignorant Culture. Star Trek or X-Files are easier to digest than a chapter on Thermodynamics.That's called the Law of the Least Effort.
Whom to blame for the death of 39 cult members near San Diego? All of us. We are failing. And the Path to Salvation does not go through Religion, but in a Systematic study of Modern Science. MORE SCIENCE, LESS STUPIDITY.

Updated on March 28, 1997According to the local media about 100,000 (ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND) residents of Dade County (total population around two millions) will loose their Food Stamps Assistance next September when the new Welfare Reform Act will be enforce. How about the fleecing of America? That should not bother us. Why loose our sleep about Nothing, anyway how many of us voted for a Republican Congress last November.
I worked for years at Catholic Community Services and Christian Community Services Agency on behalf of the poor, the frail ,the least of my brothers and sisters. Of course we used Federal Grants, but also many private donations. Nowadays those programs are either gone or downsized to a ridiculous few volunteers. Times are changing, we are told. But what really pisses me off (I apologize for my language) is that 56,029 will loose their meager SSI checks($480 a month), and 90% of them elderly. Nice way to pay back our parents.
Of course We must balance the budget, cut unnecessary expenses. The problem is what will happen to those people when their income stops. Probably most of them will end in Nursing Homes where their Medicare coverage will pay ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS A DAY to take care of them. All of that monies coming out of our pockets. I do not know, but when I was in High School, 480 was smaller than 3000. Wasn't it? Well, I guess I am still a Social Worker in my heart. The worst I guess I am an idiot for believing in Jose Marti's words.
