Biblio Noticias

I hope to be able to include and extend the bibliographies collect by others (such as Nicholas Hellmuth's on different Maya subjects). The idea is to have a specific hyperlinked bibliography for each topic covered in this pages, with extensions and annotations so it could be used as a tool for further reading and research. I was very fortunate to be able to attend some of Karl Taube's seminars at the University of California - Riverside and other locations, and I found his reading lists to be extremely useful.

    Whatever
Check out the worklist of links to
    Online Books and Library Resources.

  • You can visit my grab bag assortment of links to Online Books and Library Resources, though I'd sooner recommend visiting one of the Search Engines. This is really a working list for me, a continuing work-in-progress (and the observant among you will notice it hasn't seen much work lately at all).

It was originally assembled from lists gleaned from the Summer Institute of Linguistics resources page and another site in Mexico, and has been revised periodically. As I discover new links, I'm trying to assemble the most useful for the specific areas of research interest, and let this list take its shape as it will (or rather, hasn't).

Online Books doesn't even qualify as "half-baked"- it's really a sloppy aggregation of links. If you're into idle browsing, you might want to download my entire bookmark list (circa March 1996) and do some exploring on your own.

A Clean Well Lighted Place For Books

new A Clean Well Lighted Place For Books is a really fine SF Bay area bookstore (I've been visiting their location near the Opera house for years). I want to bring your attention to their wonderful Maya page with a nice write-up on John Lloyd Stephens and Frederick Catherwood (two of the earliest explorers who brought the ancient Maya world to the attention of modern readers). The Maya Bookshelf includes an extensive annotated list of titles that can be ordered online. This is a really thoughtful selection, and includes many hard-to-find items. A first class job, all the way around!
