INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE
This section provides the delineation of the areas of responsibility (AOR) for both the Auxiliary divisions and the Coast Guard Cutters for the rivers, lakes and waterways within the Mississippi River System as defined in the Light List Volume V. Data shown is as of the "last update" date above.
The Cutter AORs will be undergoing significant change during 1999 due to decommissioning and realignment of coverage. The DSOs-AN will do their best to stay on top of the changes and keep this web site current.
Comments and questions should be forwarded to the appropriate DSO-AN as indicated at the top of each table.
ASSIGNING AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Auxiliary areas of responsibility for aids to navigation are generally assigned to coincide with operations areas to encourage multi-mission safety / aid verification patrols. Sometimes, due to the nature of the aid verification mission, the delineation between division and even region AORs is changed to reflect resources available. Such a change is usually developed by the SOs-AN involved and communicated to the appropriate DSOs-AN for final approval and publication.
