Hello... I'm Charlie Beristain and I want to welcome you to my pages about biking because its a very important way of life for me. Although I started biking just a few years ago and a little late in life (60 years young - now 67) I'm a dedicated and certified biking fanatic. I bike every day, 7 days a week, spring, summer, fall, and winter. Most of the time I ride on trails with the mountain bike, but I started out on a road bike and I'm still fond of it. |

I also learned the hard way, that there are risks in biking. Accidents are not unusual, especially for the inexperienced. My first winter of riding, I fractured 6 ribs and vertebrae because of a "friendly" dog. I made a visit to the emergency ward three times in the first 4 months of riding. While being out of commission with the fractured ribs, I read everything available about accidents and asked every biker I know about their accidents, and found that with education, many of these accidents would not have happened. So, I have created an accident database so other bikers can read and educate themselves and possibly prevent an accident from happening.
Recently a friend lost two very expensive bikes, taken from his locked car top carrier on a busy downtown street. These bikes are usually quickly sold and it seems that the police databases are not easily accessible by "buyers" so they can check serial numbers before they make purchase. The database can also let those who lost bikes, browse to check if their bike is listed as being stolen again. This may help to trace where the bike has been since the original theft. Therefore, I thought a stolen bike database would be helpful and have incorporated one into my web site. I hope you do find everything on my site interesting and in some small way a help. I am not trying to win any awards with these pages, just trying to help so visit the links below and enjoy...
I no longer have the '97 Super v. I gave it to our daughter and I sold the CAAD3 hardtail Icebike. I now have 5 bikes. a 2002 Cannondale Scalpel 4000 team edition, a 2001 Cannondale F3000 hardtail (used for Icebiking and as a backup for the Scalpel), a 2003 Jekyll 3000, an aa CAAD6 Cannondale Road Bike, and a Norco Trials bike (can't ride it worth a lick. It will be my "project" for the summer of 2004)
This season (2003), I'm planning to do the Connecticut Sport Series Mountain Bike Races... Sport Class/over 50 group and the Nationals at Mt. Snow in the Sport class/66-69 age group. It should be a fun year. And boy was it a fun year of racing. I won the CT. and N.E. over 50 expert series and came in first at the Mt.Snow Nationals (65+ experts) and second in the World Masters Championship races (65+) at Bromont Canada. My rookie season.. who knew? I sure didn't. It came as a total surprise to me.
Life is good.
