an interview with Hooperman.

CFRoom: Welcome to another CF Magazine interview. Today we are interviewing "Hooperman", a favorite among CFRoom regulars.

~Hooperman: testing...1...2...3

CFRoom: Hooperman, I first want to be sure you state that you understand this interview will be published on the CFRoom web page.

~Hooperman: Yes, I understand

CFRoom: We would first like to know how long you have been involved with Christian Fellowship chat, and what got you involved in it.

~Hooperman: Well, I've been a member of Prodigy for about three years but didn't get into chat until this past fall and I've been hooked ever since. I enjoy the freedom of fellowship without the need for profanity as in other rooms.

CFRoom: Can you tell me how long you have been a Christian; and What it means to you to be called a Christian?

~Hooperman: I believe it was when I was 13 or 14 that I truly made a personal commitment to Christ. I was raised as a preacher's kid as my father pastored in the State of Georgia. So I have been around church all of my life. However, I eventually decided that I wanted to serve the Lord for myself and not because of my family.

Being a Christian means life for me. To have a friend that will never leave you or let you down.

CFRoom: Please describe what your life is like away from Prodigy online activities.

~Hooperman: I work fulltime as a computer specialist with the Department of Justice. I assist attorneys with their case by producing graphics, computer presentations and creating databases for their case work. I also help maintain the office network and help users with computer problems.

Away from the daytime job (when I'm not chatting), I am a writer. I have had articles published in magazines such as Law Office Computing, Hockey Ink (a minor league hockey magazine) and Sharing the Victory (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) to name a few. I also publish my own newsletter called The Amen Corner.

CFRoom: Could you tell us about Amen Corner.

~Hooperman: I wanted to keep in practice with my writing and developing Christian ideas for writing. I began publishing The Amen Corner in December, 1996. After distributing a few copies at my local church, the congregation was very receptive to it and wanted more issues. I have continued to publish it each month with articles that try to encourage Christians in their daily walk.

So many times we focus on new Christians and forget the needs of maintaining the ones who are already Christians.

CFRoom: Is it possible for the CFRoom fellowshipers to get your publication?

~Hooperman: I have a web page at http://pages.prodigy.com/amencorner, or we can mail paper copies upon request for no charge.

CFRoom: That sounds like a wonderful, God-glorifying, and personally fulfilling ministry.

~Hooperman: Yes. I believe that I have truly found my calling. To God be the glory! I give him all the credit for the success.

CFRoom: Are there any other offline ministries, Christian services, or other Christian activities which are close to your heart?

~Hooperman: I speak on occasions and I am active in my local church with the sound system and getting the congregation in the "mood" for worship with contemporary songs.

CFRoom: Great! Now, Could you please share some special, funny, or otherwise significant story or stories from chatting in the Christian Fellowship Room?

~Hooperman: It has been a lot of fun for me to fellowship with many in the room. I love to joke around (as if no one knows). I think life is serious enough and situations we deal with in the 3-D world. It is a wonderful escape to go to the CF Room and laugh. There have been many times that I've been down, but a trip to the room has made me laugh to tears and cheered me up.

CFRoom: Would you care to share any other memorable Christian experiences with CF Magazine?

~Hooperman: Without a doubt, when Mrs. Hooperman came into my life. Believe it or not I used to be really shy and lacked self-esteem. In early 1987, I asked the Lord to help me and send that special person into my life. During the year, I had three dreams that He was sending someone my way. No one believed me but in September 1987, Mrs. Hooperman burst into my life.

Ironically, when I was six years old, her dad was a state evangelist and ran my Dad a revival at one of his churches. I did not see the future Mrs. Hooperman again until 1987. I knew she was the one when she appeared in my life although it took some time for her to come around to that plan.

We were married on New Year's Eve, 1988.

CFRoom: Wow! What a beautiful sentiment from our resident "fun guy"!

~Hooperman: hahahah....thanks

CFRoom: Hooperman, would you be willing to namedrop, and let us know some of the NickNames of folks you might be found chatting with, and the times to find you in CF chat?

~Hooperman: There are so many I like to chat with. But normally they are numees, Galatians514, Diamond135, Deborah2, Shadow, Hoser, Biblefly, Rox and there seem to be new ones each week. I normally chat at lunch and late night (10:30 - 12:30 EST)

CFRoom: Now, What would your advice be to someone planning to come to the Christian Fellowship Room?

~Hooperman: Don't take it so seriously! Just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you can't have fun. There doesn't necessarily have to be a "topic" every time. Enjoy life a little.

CFRoom: Thank you so much for agreeing to be interviewed for CF Magazine, Hooperman. It has been a pleasure to get to know you so much better!
