an interview with DIO.

CFRoom: Good morning Chatters of the Christian Fellowship Room, and welcome to the Hot Corner. Today, we are honored to have as our guest a chatter who is relatively new among us: Ed Rehrig, better known as DIO.

Good morning DIO.

~DIO: Hi CFRoom. Great to be here.

CFRoom: DIO, I want you to be aware that we intend for this to be a public interview. What you say here will be published as an interview in Christian Fellowship Magazine.

~DIO: This is fine with me.

CFRoom: DIO, before we begin, can you tell us how long you have been chatting on Prodigy?

~DIO: About five months now.

CFRoom: So you began about in January?

~DIO: Hmmm, make that Feburary.

CFRoom: Ok, February.

Can you tell us what initially attracted you to the Christian Fellowship Room?

~DIO: Simply put: The CFRoom itself. Being a Christian, I thought it would be a cool place to make new friends and build relationships. And I was right. The people there were great to talk to.

CFRoom: Can you give us a specific example of a new bond you formed from chatting with other Christians?

~DIO: Well....

I have met so many great people. But a specific example would be with TREE RESER - (TREE, You rule!!). We started off just chatting, and now we have a 'Mother/Son' thing.

Plus, my good friend SWitty2, although we dont talk a lot any more. We are still really tight

Plus.... A lot of people come to me and just want to talk about problems. It's an honor to help people that way.

CFRoom: Very good. DIO, can you tell us anything interesting about your chat nickname?

~DIO: Ahhhhh... The Nickname...

The NN has many different meanings really.

CFRoom: Ok

~DIO: One: It is the stage name of Ronnie James Dio, a personal idol of mine since I was 19 years old. His music has been my 'best friend' at times throughout the years. And I met him last summer. I know a lot of people dont like this nickname, but it's just that: a nickname - and simply an attitude.

Also, Dio means "Lost Child Of God," and also "God's Child." I like that.

CFRoom: You even had your picture taken with him, is that correct?

~DIO: I had a couple taken with him. I talked for an hour with him on his bus.

CFRoom: What do you think would cause people not to like your nickname?

~DIO: Well.. Because Ronnie's music at times could be considered not 'user friendly.' He sang some things that have upset many - even me. But it is the overall value in anything that I tend to look at.

Hey! I'll bet I've said a few things to upset some people in the room at times. But I'm still lovable.

I've gotten much flack over the nickname. But it's just a name - nothing more.

CFRoom: For the benefit of those not familiar with him, do you wish to tell us some things about his music?

~DIO: Hmmm... His music is border-line hard rock/metal. He has a problem with organized religion. (But then, so do I.) Sometimes this comes across in some tunes.

But, when I was alone and down, he had songs that would lift me way up. He has a way of saying something the exact way I feel inside.

CFRoom: Does he know you have adopted his name?

~DIO: Probably so, because I know for a fact that he checks out chat sites on a regular basis. And besides, it's only a stage name, not his real one.

Simply an attitude.

I'm thinking of changing my nickname to something really exciting....

Like .... Ed.

CFRoom: You are from Wilkes-Barre, PA, is that correct?

~DIO: Yes, from Wilkes-Barre, The Land That Time Forgot.

CFRoom: Why do you say "the land that time forgot"?

~DIO: Wilkes Barre was a coal town. When "Coal was King" so to speak, Wilkes-Barre rivaled New York. But now, Wilkes-Barre is mearly a shadow of its fromer self.

Wilkes-Barre is losing masses of its population yearly. I even left here one time, and like a dope, I came back.

CFRoom: Why did you leave the area? And what brought you back?

~DIO: I has a mid-life crisis before mid life. We threw all our stuff into a Ryder truck and moved to San Antioio, Texas. There I worked making a prototype jet for three years. When that ended, I foolishly came back.

I lived ther from 1988 through 1992. How I MISS Texas!

CFRoom: It's still there.

~DIO: Don't I know it.

CFRoom: DIO, can you tell us how you came to know the Lord?

~DIO: I was saved in 1983. I was friends at work with a man who shared the Gospel with me, and the Spirit did what he does best: He woke up my heart; He showed me the secrets of the universe; He showed me the Real God. And the rest is history; here I am today.

CFRoom: Praise God !!

~DIO: Amen...

CFRoom: What kind of ministries are you involved in?

~DIO: Yes there is. I am involved in 'street' type ministries - homeless, youth - but I don't talk about it much. It's really a private thing, you know? Between me and God. It's better that way.

CFRoom: DIO, how does being a Christian influence you as a member of your family?

~DIO: It's taught me responsibility, not only to family, but to others as well. It has taught me the deepest love that I express to family and to others.

I'm not with my wife any more. So it's just me and my son....

and our dog Champ.

CFRoom: I bet you could talk about your son for the rest of the time we have to conduct this interview.

~DIO: Well, he's so cool, nothing like I was as a teenager. He's more level-headed, more mature than I was.

He just graduated last Friday. Man, THAT was a head trip. It seems like yesterday, I was feeding him strained carrots baby food, and now, he's graduated!!

CFRoom: Congratulations !!

~DIO: Thanks.

CFRoom: What are his plans now that he's graduated?

~DIO: Hes undecided - ACK!!!! How I hate that word! - but he plans to maybe go back to a tech school and study Drafting.

CFRoom: Great field.

~DIO: I think so. He took it up in High School. He did really well.

CFRoom: DIO, do you have a favorite verse of Scripture you would like to share?

~DIO: Isa 43:1 - Don't be afraid: I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; YOU ARE MINE.

I like that. That's not the whole verse, but it fits.

CFRoom: Is there a story behind that verse?

~DIO: In my case, yes. It feels great to be wanted by God, simply put.

CFRoom: DIO, since you've been chatting, are there any particular moments that stand out above others?

~DIO: Yes, especially lately.

CFRoom: Please tell us about them.

~DIO: I have met and developed many lasting friendships in the room, and have been really blessed by their outcome. For instance, I'm Genny's and MindyMM's Cyber Dad. And also, my deep friendships with Frenchy, Switty and TREE.

But I have also met a wonderful woman on line and we are getting along SO well. Her name is Rhonda. Meeting her is the best on line experience I have ever had. The best; that's it!

CFRoom: Does she live near you?

~DIO: No, but distance is irrelevant. There's always a way.

CFRoom: When are the best times to find DIO on line?

~DIO: The best time is at night: I like to be in the room at night to talk to good friends, and to yell at the clowns who come in and abuse the women chatters. I love doing that.

CFRoom: And you're in the Eastern Time Zone, correct?

~DIO: Yes.

Do I get any royalties if this interview becomes a movie?

CFRoom: Of course. We always like to share the profits with those who make them possible.

Before closing, is there one final comment you would like to share with your fellow chatters?

~DIO: Yes....

ATTN FELLOW CHATTERS: I love you all. You have no idea what you all mean to me. If I've upset you, I am sorry. If I have been anything positive to you, great. Let's stay friends.

CFRoom: Any other topic we haven't touched on?

~DIO: Hmmm How about my sordid past?

Just kidding.

CFRoom: DIO, I want to thank you for taking the time to share these things in this interview.

~DIO: Listen..

It was really my great pleasure.
